A day at the house of the sea, from dawn to the last glass
Dawn by the pool, horses on the beach, grilled fish at noon, the steam of the hammam, dinner facing the open sea: a typical day, hour by hour.
7 am · Dawn by the pool
The first hour of the day is the quietest: the pool is a mirror reflecting the palm parasols, and Sidi Mehrez beach still belongs to the fishermen. It is the hour of the early risers: a few laps, or just a coffee facing the sea, before the house wakes up.
8.30 am · Breakfast
The breakfast buffet is taken with the first real light on the sea: sweet, savoury, the fruit of the season. You linger a little, and nobody hurries anybody; this is a house of 23 rooms, not a holiday machine.
10 am · The beach, the horses
The morning belongs to the beach: sunloungers and parasols reserved for guests, water that stays shallow for a long way and, almost every morning, horses passing along the water's edge, the image every guest takes home. The beach riders offer rides; reception will gladly point you their way.
1 pm · Grilled fish, feet in the sand
At noon there is no need to leave the beach: the beach bar sets its tables right in the sand, under the palm pergola. Grilled fish depending on the catch, salads, fresh juices. And the siesta is never far away.
5 pm · The steam of the hammam
Late afternoon is the right time for the spa: the skin has taken in salt and sun, and the hammam and its scrub wash them away. A massage for those who want the full ritual, jacuzzi to extend the calm. Everything is booked at reception.
8 pm · Dinner facing the open sea
In the evening the table takes over: the dining room with its wide windows or the terrace by the pool, chef shows over a live flame, the Tunisian corner to taste the island. The sunset does the rest.
10 pm · And some nights, the house stays up late
Depending on the season's programme, the evening carries on at the beach bar: live music, a DJ or a big match on screen, the sea three metres away. The programme is published on the evenings page, and reception knows it by heart.
